Backlog

It’s a bit weird when it gets to the point where not only do you have books and movies that are sitting on a pile meant to be digested at some point, but you also have games. I don’t think I’ve ever been in a position before where I actually had games I’d barely touched sitting around waiting with the same patience as a novel or new DVD, but there ya’ go. Oh, the difficulties of modern living. Shin Megami Tensei Devil Summoner is waiting for a proper playthrough. Digital Devil Saga 2 is still incomplete at this time. Suikoden V’s alternate ending has yet to be finished. The final “100%” ending in Dragon Quest VIII is still incomplete, and Bully also remains unfinished. Guitar Hero 2 and Final Fantasy XII are what are enjoying the most “spin time” in the DVD drive of the Playstation 2…

After Messing With The PS3

I can’t give a full report, since that’s going straight into a GameAxis article, but here’s the short version; there’s an awful lot of promise and power in that sucker that’s not doing much of anything right now. It could be reeeeeeeally cool in a year or so if people take advantage of its potential, but for the moment, it’s shiny and has the usual mix of good to average to down right sucky games, and you can install LINUX on it. I see the possibilities, and those are exciting, but for now… It’s all promise and no actual delivery.

Holy CRAP

This is my 700th post. Who would’a thunk it after these last few years. And all I have to show for it is… quite possibly one of the most boring blogs on the internet.

But lack of drama aside, I get to mess with a Playstation 3 tomorrow. The office has one, and I get to be the lucky geek to give it the GameAxis Hardcore Gamer Appraisel, since most other people have too much dignity and an actual life to give a damn. How wonderful for me…

I Have Now Learned Two Things From Guitar Hero 2

Dave Mustaine has more talent than I ever, EVER gave him credit for, because Hanger 18 is one HELL of a song.

Buckethead is the only musician I’ve ever heard, with whom I could very well believe that he struck a deal with Satan himself to attain the level of skill he has.

Yet Another Idea For A Story

But this one would be a 5 novel young adult/children’s series. And it’s totally evil in that mercenary, just-go-for-the-throat-of-vulnerable-readers sort of way…

Idea For A Story

Except that I won’t talk about it here. And it’s probably best suited to a one shot comic book anyways. Still it’s pretty damn warped, but in that wholesome way that makes Goth Girls so cute. I think.

I Didn’t Write Anything Story Related

But… I kind of looked at some of my writing today. That kind’a, sort’a, maybe counts, right?

Time To Finish That Book

Y’know, I think it’s just about high time I returned to Lost In Loveless, my attempt at writing a children’s book, and just finish it. It’s been bugging me lately that I haven’t been telling some kind of story. I think working on factual stuff like the game documentary just reminds me why fiction is more interesting.

And at the very least, you have far more control over the elements of your story.

Departure Date Nailed Down

Okay, we’ve got some stuff figured out. As of January 11th, I’ll no longer be able to include my snide, “stranded in Singapore” tag at the end of my e-mails. The Wife will join me about a week later, but I’ll touch down first, since, as the one who’s an actual Canadian citizen, it’s easier for me to do the little things like open a bank account, agree to rent an apartment, and other assorted stuff.

Wow, it’s actually happening.
