I picked up the Aerosmith Guitar Hero yesterday.
My verdict?
WAY TOO MUCH Aerosmith.
That and the difficulty level of some of the songs (on Hard, much less Expert) verges on the insulting.
I actually wasn’t going to buy it (as I am currently enjoying switching between ROCK BAND–where Suffragette City is holding up my progress on Expert–and Persona 3 FES–where I am marveling at the Japanese ability to design adorable schoolgirls), but then I saw it there on the shelf at Toys R Us, beckoning to me and I succumbed.
Don’t blame the addict. Blame the drug.
Guitar Hero is dead to me. Then again, later this year, Guitar Hero will be dead anyway, as Guitar Hero IV: World Tour debuts, complete with all new, all original, never before seen features such as a drum kit, microphone and the ability to play with a band.
Yes, Guitar Hero has jumped the shark and they’ve become “Band Heroes” in all but name. Of course, to play it you’ll need to buy all that new equipment (except maybe your guitar) whereas Rock Band 2 is also coming out this year, and won’t require you to buy anything new except the game itself. Also, the DLC content from Rock Band all works on Rock Band 2, whereas, for obvious reasons, none of the old Guitar Hero songs will work with Band Heroes. Activision is claiming this a revolution in gaming that’s they are the first to achieve.
I am just sickened to my stomach by how far down my favorite series has sunk.
