What? Over? Already?
Vampyre Story ended up getting finished surprisingly early. I honestly though we were only half-way through the game and suddenly the credits were rolling at the end of a cut-scene. I understand that the adventure game genre is dying, and I understand that Autumn Moon, the developers had problems finding a publisher, which probably necessitated budgetary limitations, but maaaaaaaan… After games like The Longest Journey and Grim Fandango I think I’ve been spoiled. Still, it was fun while it was lasted, so the experience, although brief, was enjoyable.
Gamer Hell Froze Over
The Geek-O-Sphere (depending on which “side” you’re on) was either in abject misery or sadistic joy this afternoon when Microsoft ended their E3 Press Conference with the atomic bomb that Final Fantasy XIII will be coming to the Xbox 360 as well. Which is pretty much like saying Halo is going to be on a Sony console, something that, up until now, was considered nigh impossible.
I can only begin to speculate at how much money had to be exchanged at this since the Square-Enix president admitted this was an incredibly recent decision. The way it’s going to work is that the PS3 in Japan still gets FFXIII first, and then, for the English version, the PS3 version will have to wait until the Xbox 360 version is ready, so the English speaking world will get a simultaneous release of the game on both consoles.
I’m kind of torn on this. In one sense, I feel like my girlfriend has just said “I think we should have an open relationship.” On the other hand, there’s a sense of glee at how much pain this will cause the more extremist PS3 fans who’s excesses have made ashamed of my machine on more than one occasion and who’s ramblings on the internet have actually made me hate Sony on occasion because it’s responsible for creating such frightening collection of religious fanatics.
Oh well, I suppose if they’re suffering right now, it’s all for a good cause.
And in other E3 news… this song has been confirmed as in Rock Band 2.
Yup. Still love you, Harmonix, even if you are on the Microsoft payroll too.

Nerd-Vana Once More
Yup, tomorrow is E3. Once again gamer geeks get an overload of screen shots, demos and press conferences all to build up hype for titles coming out for the rest of the year. I’m still interested in the info, but, having been to an E3 myself, am now glad I’m not actually there.
Rewriting History
There is something deeply satisfying about having a full wing of bombers when your nearest competitor is still attacking you with guys with spears.
Tomorrow
The time-killer of all time-killers makes its full fledged appearance on our PS3.
God help us both.
Whoo Hoo
My first gold trophy under the new Playsation trophies system. That was HARD. And ultimately futile.
At least the Wife comes back tomorrow and normality will resume. It’s not the same without her around.
Late To The Party
I kind of feel bad now that it took the inclusion of trophies before I was willing to pick up the downloadable game Super Stardust HD from the Playstation Store. It’s actually quite a bit of fun in that mindless, endless, 80′s arcade game way.
Sort of an Asteroids game on LSD and cocaine at the same time. Trippy, but FAST.
Temporarly A Bachelor
And this is what geeks do when they’re left to their own devices; they continue to play games, watch movies, and feed cats.
Happy Canada Day
Once again, I am actually grateful that this day is here. It’s amazing what over a decade away from your native soil will do for your patriotism.
It’s also the last night that the Wife has at home for the next few days. As of tomorrow she goes off to Manhattan for some artist, professional, conference thingy…
Wayne is on...
