Going For Speed

Still playing Mirror’s Edge but now going through “speed run” mode where you have to finish the levels within an allotted time limit.  Took me hours to get through the final level on my first try.  Now I find out it can be done in under 6 minutes.  Holy crap.

Fish & Friends

Aquanaut’s Holiday finally arrived in the mail today and the above is a screen shot I took while playing the game.  This is the kind of game a mainstream gamer LOATHES; the premise is that you’re a journalist trying to find a missing marine biologist and you do so by exploring an atoll’s reef environment in a mini-sub.  That’s it.  No shooting, no aliens, fist fights, nothing.  Just you floating around in a gorgeously simulated coral reef checking out the marine life.  Which, unfortunately, is why I had to import the game; Sony decided that while the game was a decent hit in Japan, trigger-happy Westerners wouldn’t go for it.  They’re probably right.  But I’m enjoying this leisurely, interactive version of BBC’s Blue Planet quite a bit.

Also, an old friend from Singapore who now lives in Manhattan showed up today.  That was cool but weird, since we were all saying things along the lines of “I can’t believe we’re still meeting up like this… BUT NOT IN SINGAPORE!”  It was good to see her.

Tomorrow we hit the train for Ottawa and the Tactician’s wedding.  This should be interesting.

Done

Last day in the office.  Meetings up the wazoo, my God, the meetings…

Oh well, a lot of stuff got nailed down.  Work is good and fun.  Tomorrow we just take it easy and hang with friends, the day after we leave for our next destination.  Which I CAN talk about since that’s just for fun.  But won’t right now.
