The Angry Dwarf
It’s pretty satisfying running around as a Jerk Dwarf and generally being mean, sadistic and bloodthirsty to everyone I was nice to the first time. Although it does occasionally mean cutting myself off from certain quests or rewards since now the people who would normally give such things are either dead or hate me. I begin to see the allure the Lawful Evil versus Chaotic Evil alignments, for all you D&D nerds out there.

As lame as it must sound, today I made the decision to switch from Normal Mode to Casual. It just got to the point where I couldn’t go anywhere without being attacked by a group of bandits/corpses/werewolves/whatever without my whole party being massacred, so for the sake of me not throwing the controller through my TV screen I changed over to the easiest mode and have been mopping my enemies up without breaking a sweat since. It’s actually a lot more fun, if a lot less challenging.
That said, I did make it through the Redcliffe siege in Normal before I switched over, so I got that going for me.
Yeah well… it’s a Bioware game, and they can get pretty complex combat-wise. Unless you’re the sort that can actually micro-manage individual orders in a fight and enjoy doing that by switching from character to character, and spending a lot of time tweaking AI orders, combat can be a harrowing experience. I finished the game the first time on Normal, but subsequent playthroughs for platinum are on Casual.
