There & Back Again

And we are once again in the land of snowfall, polite people, traffic that actually gives right of way to pedestrians and restaurants that no longer charge $25 for a cup of coffee.

It is good to be home.  I also now find myself in possession of Assassin’s Creed 2 (to see whether the game really has been improved) and Eternal Sonata (a JRPG I’ve been meaning to get for a while now, that I found on sale in my old haunting grounds of GameScore at Funan Mall).

It was a weird experience going back.  This is probably the first time that I’ve ever flown this massive a distance and didn’t feel at all like a tourist.  Singapore is still… well, Singapore, although it’s always good to meet up with old friends and see how things are going.  Hong Kong is ever the Mean Fucking Town it ever was, although it was a little more relaxing to be back this time around since it wasn’t for work and I wasn’t running around like a headless chicken from one shoot to the next.  Southeast Asia is always going to be a fascinating experience, especially for people interested in good food, and truly cinematic “mega-cities” with crazy skylines.  But I’m a Canadian at heart, and Toronto is a much better fit.

As I said, it is good to be home.

  • Ok, I admit I haven’t been following the blog faithfully, so I was amazed to see you’d been back to Singapore. I recently connected with Tony (owner of the Betel Box) on Facebook and have been remembering my visit. I definitely want to take Stuart and show him all the cool stuff. Glad you had fun!

  • In the time that you were gone “American Girl” and “Refugee” by Tom Petty were added to Rock Band.

I just thought you should know….

P.S. For the LOVE OF GOD save your star power for the solo at the end of “American Girl”! You’ll need it.
