Interviews & Dead Mice
TCAF kept us busy. The Wife was supposed to go down and do illustrations for kids at the request of Owl Magazine for whom she’s heavily contributed illustrations. I had to go down to interview Scott Campbell. Not a house-hold name, but anyone that’s played Psychonauts or Brutal Legend has Scott to blame for the [...]
Yay For Birthdays
Just a pleasant evening spent at a friend’s home on the occasion of her birthday. Nerdage abounded.
Pho Sure
A pleasant evening of Vietnamese beef noodles and an abundance of gaming nerd talk. As usual, once the gaming nerds got together, the spouses sort of hung back slack jawed at how hopelessly animated the conversation became over game design choices, obscure developers, and whether James Cameron really is That Fucking Awesome.
Hurray For Old Friends
Another friend from Edmonton came up for a visit today. Much Fatal Frame 2, Rock Band 2 and The Beatles: Rock Band was partaken.
Hobnobbing
At the Canzine Artcade, a little room tucked away in the Gladstone Hotel where indie gamers stuffed a few of their games into, I am told, an re-furbed cabinet from an Italian Centipede knock-off. Met other geeks. Ate geek food at a 24 hour diner. Talked about geek stuff. Fun had by all.
House Warming
Friend moved into some new digs (or more precisely to the next floor of the old digs) and much snack food and geeky conversation was had.
Par-Tay Nerd Style
Yet another Nerd Party where games and geekery were the center of recreation. Retro PS1 games such as Irritating Stick (No, I’m not making that up) were on hand, and the Mystery Science Theater 3000 style running commentary from a bunch of articulate, hardcore, game nerds was truly a sight to behold.
Success
If, by success, you mean Japanese food was consumed and then a lot of Rock Band 2
Nerd Party
What else can you say? Streetfighter IV and people screaming over Resident Evil 5 makes for an incredibly embarassing get together if you’re not similarly geeky yourself. Fun had by all.
