Rocking Out
The Mathematician stopped in for a visit and of course, that meant breaking out the Rock Band 3.
Touring Guelph
Went out to see the town that my old buddy The Mathematician lives in and see his family.
It’s still weird to me that I can say stuff like that now about people I know personally.
Baffling But Cool Lunches
Sat around today enjoying dim sum with Mike Carey and his wife. I’m still trying to figure out exactly how that happened. If nothing else, it reminded me I really need to finish up those writing projects.
Massive Burgers
You know you’re in trouble when the name of the restaurant is simply, “5 Guys Burgers,” and out in the wilderness of Scarborough.
Nerd Concert
Went to a live performance of the soundtrack for Sword & Sworcery EP, a game that a friend of mine recently released on all iThings. The Wife contributed an illustration for the vinyl album limited edition that was created for the game, and they projected it on the screen at the TIFF Lightbox theater where the event was held. Neat stuff.
Sunday With Friend
An old friend from Edmonton showed up today. Always good to spend some time with the people who knew how irritating you were when you were younger.
Orphan Pizza
This, apparently, is what you call it when a bunch of people get together the day before Easter to eat pizza because they’re not traveling off to visit respective families for the occasion.
It was good pizza.
Local Success
Went off to talk to and interview Craig Adams, better known to internet indie game nerds as Superbrothers. His game just came out for the iPad and was sitting at an astounding #2 on the app store, so he’s something of a big deal now for aspiring local game creators. I’ve also got the game now for review along with a shiny iPad to try it out on.
So far I’m more impressed with the game than the iPad itself. Then again, every time I pick it up, I get the feeling it’s telepathically affirming my creativity, since it seems like everyone knows if you’re Truly Creative, you’ll use Apple products to assert your individuality like everyone else.
Last Shootout Of The Year
Messed around with a little Halo: Reach LAN party in which many heads were shot.
More Old Friends
Did the Central Park thing, had a hot dog, even made the pilgrimage to the Guggenheim. Also hung out with an old friend from Singapore who is now living and working in Manhattan. It’s moments like this that weird me out, sitting in New York restaurants talking about The Old Days, which consist of a lot of globe trotting and crazy stories. Never thought I’d be in a position where I’d have those to tell.
Wayne is on...
