Yuppie Brunch
Another reunion of old Elementary/Highschool friends (and spouses) today. Man, that was weird. To think 20 years ago, we were all too messed up, bitter and lonely to believe we’d ever reach this stage.
Out And About
Met up with the Old Friend for dinner at her place and to catch up. Haven’t seen her since she got married, but all is well.
And Thus She Is Hitched
The Old Friend got married today. Man, I’ve known her since I was 14 years old, what a long way we’ve come. At the wedding I was talking to an even older friend, The Mathematician and it we realized we’ve known each other for about 30 years. My. God…
Reunion Time
And so old elementary and college buddies begin to trickle into the city as The Old Friend gets herself married tomorrow. It’s always nice to see old friends again.
Clean Up Complete
Pirate games all wrapped up and visitation to something called a “Jack & Jill” for Old Friend Who Is Getting Married also finished. That was pretty weird meeting her parents again after over 12 years… I’m amazed they still remembered who I am.
Interviews & Dead Mice
TCAF kept us busy. The Wife was supposed to go down and do illustrations for kids at the request of Owl Magazine for whom she’s heavily contributed illustrations. I had to go down to interview Scott Campbell. Not a house-hold name, but anyone that’s played Psychonauts or Brutal Legend has Scott to blame for the unique art direction, since he’s the Double Fine Art Director. TCAF was also very different this year since there were actually people at the tables that we knew, so there were friends to visit and talk to amongst the ridiculous level of talent on display.
And, we returned home to find a dead mouse had been neatly deposited at the base of our fan. I have no idea where the mouse came from, or if there are more, but apparently two cats in the house were far more than the poor bastard could reasonably deal with.
Yay For Birthdays
Just a pleasant evening spent at a friend’s home on the occasion of her birthday. Nerdage abounded.
Pho Sure
A pleasant evening of Vietnamese beef noodles and an abundance of gaming nerd talk. As usual, once the gaming nerds got together, the spouses sort of hung back slack jawed at how hopelessly animated the conversation became over game design choices, obscure developers, and whether James Cameron really is That Fucking Awesome.
Hurray For Old Friends
Another friend from Edmonton came up for a visit today. Much Fatal Frame 2, Rock Band 2 and The Beatles: Rock Band was partaken.
Wayne is on...
