The Backlog
Time to go back to those games I never got a platinum trophy on, now that my “summer project” of Demon’s Souls is finished. Next stop, God of War III.
Yay For Ron Gilbert
I don’t need to review it, but Deathspank is turning out to be hilariously entertaining. The actual game itself is a by the numbers, Diablo style beat ‘em up/loot fest, but the writing makes the game far more entertaining than it has any right to be.
Game Prep
Stupefying heat continues and now begins the set up for the fabled Demon’s Souls “super-grind.” In DS Nerd-Speak, this means pushing World 4 to pure black world tendency, grinding up a character enough to get six magic slots for casting both Soul Thirst and Soul Sucker, and then getting ready to hit up a Black [...]
You’re So Done
Demon’s Souls has been finished. At least the first playthrough has. In order to get platinum on this, I’ll probably have to go through it 2-3 more times to collect all the weapons and such.
Yet Another Review
Wrote up the review for Transformers: War for Cybertron which surprised the hell out of me by actually being pretty good.
Easiest Review Ever
Currently working my way through the latest game that popped up in the office for review:
Green Day: Rock Band.
This is a complete and utter no brainer. Like Green Day? Like Rock Band? Get the game. Don’t like Green Day? Don’t get it.
I wish all reviews could be this simple.
And Done
Bioshock 2 was… okay. It wasn’t a bad game, it was just a game that didn’t need to be made, since it more or less aped what Bioshock had done and didn’t really add anything to it. Instead of a criticism of Objectivism we got a criticism of Communism.
Slow Going
Still messing around with Bioshock 2. It’s taking a bit more time because I find I frequently take breaks from it. I suspect I’m suffering from a case of “stale game” where they haven’t changed the experience enough for me to really want to finish it all in a typical marathon session.
Killing Time
With Bioshock 2. I like it so far. If I had to review it, my impressions would be:
1) It doesn’t embarrass itself or its franchise.
2) It didn’t need to be made, but at least it’s fun.
Bummed Out
I guess Red Dead Redemption must be a pretty damn good game. I finished it today and the ending actually depressed me. Games aren’t supposed to do that.
