Highlights
It was nice to sit down–and actually enjoy–an interview with Naughty Dog’s Richard LeMarchand. It was even more pleasant to be told the feeling was mutual.
Sony Stuff
Checked out the Sony Holiday Preview event today. Many games to sit down and mess with. Uncharted 3 is, unsurprisingly, Sony’s 2011 license to print money.
Making The Rounds
It was the day for X11, Microsoft’s big gaming event in Canada, where they show their wares for the upcoming years. Not so impressive; the Kinect line up. Very impressive; getting to play Batman: Arkham City.
Really annoying; being forced to watch–not play–The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
Press Conferences Galore
Everyone is coming out with news, none of it spectacular.
The Big One
It’s that time of the year again. E3 is upon us, though I won’t be going this year, since the mag is sending off the fresh meat new kid to get some experience.
Many Events
Things got busy with a visit to the Entertainment Software Association for a little meet n’ greet before everyone flies down to L.A., and after that, a Konami press event where nothing earth shattering was announced.
An Infamous Day
Or at least an infamous game, with a Sony event to mess around with Infamous 2. It feels like the first game, which is a good thing, since the first game let you go crazy around town as a superhero. Think Grand Theft Auto with the ability to scale buildings, grind power cables and shoot lightning outta’ your hands and you begin to see the appeal.
Welcome To London
Went down to the studios of Digital Extremes in London, Ontario to check out their latest game. Can’t talk about it much, but I’ve got a lot of writing to do now.
Local Success
Went off to talk to and interview Craig Adams, better known to internet indie game nerds as Superbrothers. His game just came out for the iPad and was sitting at an astounding #2 on the app store, so he’s something of a big deal now for aspiring local game creators. I’ve also got the game now for review along with a shiny iPad to try it out on.
So far I’m more impressed with the game than the iPad itself. Then again, every time I pick it up, I get the feeling it’s telepathically affirming my creativity, since it seems like everyone knows if you’re Truly Creative, you’ll use Apple products to assert your individuality like everyone else.
