Gas Leaks & Get Togethers
So around 2 am-ish today the neighborhood got evacuated due to some drunk plowing straight into a gas pipe at the local cafe. Whee. And then The Wife surprised me with a belated small get together with friends for the birthday in which good food was had, nerd stuff was discussed and games were played.
Shiny Components
Apparently my computer is now slightly more powerful as I get the hand-me downs The Wife no longer needs from her rig. This doesn’t mean I’ll be installing Crysis on this thing anytime soon, but it’s nice to know the option is actually there now.
Bigger, Better, Slower
Earlier in the month, I hit the cap on my PS3 hard drive. After a few years of intense usage, my 160 GB hard drive only had 5 MB left in it. Now I’ve got a 640 GB drive in there, which should keep things roomy for at least another couple of years. I hope–and slightly doubt–that this will be the last time in this generation of consoles that I have to stick in a new hard drive.
The restoration of data from an external hard drive back into the new one is taking forever. It’s been spinning away for a few hours now and is only at 62% complete. Geez.
Done For The Month
Amazingly, all the articles are out of the way now, so all that’s left is the network-y stuff. Meeting people, following up on loosely agreed upon interviews and just doing That Game Journalist Thang.
And sucking HARD at Demon’s Souls since that game has officially become my summer project.
We Have To Talk
Got pulled down to the offices of Comics & Gaming Monthly today for an important discussion. Looks like I’m getting some business cards that have the title “Reviews Editor” on them. Whee.
It’s Finally Here
A proper winter of sorts, that is. Snow actually fell and stayed for once. After growing up in Edmonton, these mild Toronto winters still take some getting used to. Must also remember to watch 2010: The Year We Make Contact at some point this week.
Hands In Recovery
A quick follow up visit to the doctor shows that my hands are healing up all right. What they were healing up from is some form of eczema (a skin disorder) which apparently has no known cause as of this time. It’s nothing crippling, but for a while there my hands were not a pretty looking sight. Also incredibly itchy. All of this is mostly cleared up now, but I’m told I can probably expect flare ups from time to time. For no apparent reason, much like this time, and, apparently, those occasions in Singapore when it first started up, although at the time I hadn’t consulted a dermatologist to tell me exactly what was going on.
Wayne is on...
