A New Week

Another visit to the vet to bring our sick cat.  I wish we could figure out exactly what’s wrong with him.  He doesn’t look like he’s in any danger of dying, but on the other hand, his urinating problem seems to be making his life more complicated than it needs to be.  And ours, of course.

Injury Via Panic

An innocent follow up check up for my cat Zero has resulted in him being so freaked out about going back to the clinic that he literally tore off one of his own claws attempting to escape from the cage.  Good thing he was going to vet to get checked out anyway…

The Miracle Of Pill Pockets

Thanks to this amazing product, I no longer have to traumatize my cat just to get him to eat an anti-biotic pill.

That Time Of The Year

To bring the cats in for an annual check up at the vet’s.  Urgh…  Fortunately everything seems okay, and even Zero managed to recover fairly quickly from his hatred of us and stopped hiding under the bed after only a couple of hours.

Basically Okay

The analysis results came in and I got a call today stating that Zero has some tiny crystals in his urine, so it’s probably a bladder infection combined with something else I didn’t entirely understand.  But the gist of it was the anti-biotic he got shot with and the food he’s eating should probably take care of it, and I might have to drag him back on Thursday for a final urine analysis to make sure he’s all cleared up.

The Follow Up

Brought Zero down to the vet again for another check up.  The urine infection problems of the past month seem to have largely cleared up and he’s sociable and happy again, or at least, as sociable and happy as he ever gets with a deep terror of all but two human beings.  We’ll probably have to keep him this new special diet for at least the remainder of the summer to make sure his system and hormones are in balance, but then as far as cats go, he’s beat the odds quite a bit already.  A cat as anti-social as he is probably wouldn’t have lived very long with less patient owners, but hell, I’m a sucker for the alienated loner.

More Friends

Or friend, to be more precise, as yet another old aquaintance from university dropped by Toronto for a visit.  Walks along Bloor, perusing of various shops and yes, more Rock Band 2 occurred.  Also we took the cats to the vet for a check up.  Zero ain’t doing so hot, he’s bleeding some in his urine, but we’re still not sure what the cause is until some blood work is done.  Hopefully it’s nothing too serious.

Back To The Vet

Took Zero back to the Vet today so they could get a urine sample out of him.  We tried ourselves following the advice of locking him in the bathroom and trying to collect whatever he pissed away on the tile, but unfortunately his condition makes him urinate tiny amounts so the sample wasn’t large enough.  They managed to get a decent amount by catherizing him, which is probably about as uncomfortable as it sounds, so nothing to do now but wait.  They pumped with anti-biotics so hopefully that’ll do the trick.  We’ve also got him on some special PH balanced food in the meantime as well.

The Cat’s All Right

After a 10 day wait, we revisited the vet with Zero in tow. His mouth seems to be healing up okay, so it looks like even though we had to give up with the antibiotics due to his amazing resistance, the first few days under the influence were enough for his feline healing factor to do the rest.

Also I finally got around to creating a new Rock Band character and am laboriously playing my way through the setlist. I dunno if I’ve got it in me to actually try to do the Endless Setlist again, though.

Oh well, at least there’s a Boston “6 pack” with More Than A Feeling this week…

Fail

Four pills later, Zero has successfully managed to avoid consuming any of them. Oh well… maybe tomorrow…
